dc.description.abstract Even though Technical and Vocational Education and Training Institutions have made remarkable attempts to utilize Information Communication Technology, they are yet to fully adopt ICTs in the delivery of their core mandate. TVET institutions are seeking to leverage from ICT in order to gain a competitive edge especially in academic functions. In the wake of the novel COVID-19, TVET institutions have endevoured to utilize ICT but they have fallen short of the expectations of some stakeholders and as such the institutions have not been able to fully realize the benefits of ICT adoption. The study explored the antecedents of ICT adoption in selected TVET institutions in Kiambu County, Kenya. The study was guided by the following objectives; to assess the effect of individual, institutional and technological factors on ICT adoption in selected TVET institutions in Kiambu County, Kenya. The study was anchored on the Innovation Diffusion Theory, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and the Systems Theories. Using purposive sampling, five (5) TVET institutions were included in the study. Using a descriptive research design and with the aid of a questionnaire, primary data was collected and analysed using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS). Descriptive and inferential statistics enabled the researchers to present findings in tables and figures which were accompanied by detailed interpretations. The study established that individual, institutional and technological factors influenced the extent to which ICT was adopted by TVET institutions. The correlation between the antecedent factors and ICT adoption were as follows; individual factors (r=.710, p=.000), institutional factors (r=.599, p=.001) and technological factors (r=.531, p=.005) at 0.05 significance level. Regression statistics showed an R2=.652 which implied that 65.2% of the changes in the ICT uptake in TVET institutions was attributed to the changes in individual, institutional and technological factors. The researchers recommended that the management should ensure that institutions build capacity among users to utilize the availability technologies and provide appropriate modern technologies en_US
