Abstract:
The construction industry has been facing enormous challenges. Most of the construction projects are characterized by inferior quality, non –compliance to budgets and even late completion. The nature of organisational leadership is instrumental in the execution of projects successfully. This study aimed at establishing the role of leadership in the execution of civil engineering projects in Rwanda with specific reference to Ngoma District. A target population of 138 clients, contactors and consultants of 20 selected civil engineering projects executed in Ngoma was chosen from which a sample size of 105 was chosen. The study adopted descriptive survey design where structured questionnaires were used to collect primary data. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze data. The study found that the nature of leadership influences the execution of civil engineering projects in Rwanda. It recommended that competent managers should be recruited to ensure proper execution of the projects through their guidance.
