Abstract:
Many organisations today have introduced work life initiatives which aim at helping employees realize work life balance. However, work life initiatives have not always led to the realization of the intended work life balance. Failure of employees to utilize work life initiatives available to them , fear of being perceived as lacking in commitment to work when they take advantage of them, poor remuneration and demographic characteristics, affect the effectiveness of those initiatives .This study therefore underlies the importance of work place norms, which are manifest through social support, organisation culture, organisation wellness and supervisory support, as a strategy to enhance the realization of work place initiatives in the light of the said hindrances
